You can still get a divorce even when you do not know where your spouse is currently living. It may sound bizarre that you get married and plan to be with your spouse until death do you part, but of course things happen, you separate and live apart from each other and some times prior to getting a divorce, you lose touch with your spouse. If this has happened to you, you are not alone.
There are times when your spouse may not want a divorce and thus may not identify where they are living so that they do not have to face the realities that it is time. Or if there was turbulence in the relationship prior to the split, you may not want to have contact with your spouse. No matter the reason for the split and loss of contact, you still have options for obtaining divorce from your spouse.
Often times the process of obtaining a divorce when you do not know where your spouse is located can take longer than when you do know where your partner is located, but it is still possible to divorce without knowing the address of your spouse.
In Maryland, you must initially have jurisdiction to file for divorce, and particularly state a ground for divorce, but you can still get a divorce even when you don't have the address of your spouse.
